Yappy Hour: Doggie fun at OUTRIGGER Kauaʻi Beach Resort

Calling all dog lovers – locals and visitors alike! OUTRIGGER Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa is hosting a monthly event uniting humans and man's best friend: Yappy Hour. 

In partnership with Kauai Humane Society, the event is not just about the beautiful views or the fabulous tropical vibe of Kauai – it's also about hanging out with these adorable four-legged friends in paradise!

"There’s nothing like having a group of puppies crawl all over you," says Caitlin Fowlkes, the passionate Marketing & Communications Coordinator for the Kauai Humane Society (KHS).

The dog adoption event creates a fun atmosphere for all, including playing amidst a sea of cuddly cute puppies eager to shower you with affection. There's also live music, select drink discounts and unique hand-tie-dyed merch, including local vendors with a range of pet-friendly favorites.

A Partnership with Purpose

The magic of Yappy Hour came to life when Jennie Wong, OUTRIGGER Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa Marketing Manager, harbored dreams of connecting guests of the resort with dogs in need of a home. Teaming up with Erin Olsen from KHS, they turned Yappy Hour into the barking good time it is today (we couldn't help ourselves!).

While Yappy Hour events have a chill vibe, they also serve a higher purpose: off-island adoptions. With limited pet-friendly homes on Kauai, KHS facilitates off-island adoptions to ensure their shelter animals find loving homes. The best part? If a visitor falls head over heels for a dog during their stay, KHS provides a hassle-free adoption process, even taking care of the logistics to get the pet to its new home.

As Caitlin, who's been with KHS for three years, says fondly, "I get to play with the animals when I’m getting content of them to promote. I get to help make a difference in the animal’s lives while also getting all of the kitten and doggo snuggles at the same time."
