    Stories of Hope

At a time when COVID-19 continues to impact our world, we post this in sincere hopes that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy.

While social distancing is keeping us apart, our Outrigger “hui” has never been closer. In the Hawaiian language – the word “hui” is used to refer to a team, group, club or organization. An outrigger canoe moves forward best when all paddlers are in unison – this is the spirit that we’re seeing across the globe.

Poignant stories of hope are arising from our communities near and far. In the coming weeks, we look forward to sharing some of our stories of kindness, grit and hope.

    HAWAII

KHON2 shared news of the Hotels for Heroes program, which allows the hospitality industry to offer rooms to Hawaii’s health care workers and first responders who want to reduce risk for their families or spend the night closer to work. We were honored to place Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort in the program.

At Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort, the word “hui” was illuminated on the Ocean Tower to highlight the collective resilience and love that we have for each other as well as our guests, partners and community. In this difficult time, it’s all hands on deck and our “hui” is rising to the challenge.

    THAILAND

Hosts from Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort volunteered to spend their mornings over the course of the week, cleaning and removing rubbish from the vacant block of land adjacent to the resort. For many years this piece of land has been left in a terrible state with large piles of dumped rubbish and debris. The state of this area had become a real eye sore for our guests using the beach and we would often witness rubbish making its way back into the ocean. Thanks to all of the hosts for their time in assisting us to continue our efforts in protecting our environment and our oceans!

    MAURITIUS

Our hosts at Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort are working with the Village chief of La Gaulette, located 15 km from the Resort. La Gaulette and its surrounding villages Coteau Raffin, Case Noyale and Le Morne are some of the most impoverished areas in Mauritius and are particularly impacted by the downturn in business caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

When the world is ready to travel again, we’ll be here. In the meantime, we’re sending all of our aloha.

    Your next vacation awaits.
