Paradise at Home: Hawaii
Our first hotel opened seventy-four years ago. It was right in the heart of Waikiki (although the area looked a little different back then!). Our vision was to bring the dream of a Hawaii vacation within reach.
Fast forward to today; we’re a global hotel company with over thirty five hotels and resorts. But our roots will always be in Hawaii. And given the current landscape, where travel is postponed due to COVID-19, we feel - more than ever - that our mission of bringing Hawaii to you remains relevant.
Over the next couple of weeks and months, we will be virtually sharing our island homes with you. From music to recipes and talk-story surf sessions. We hope it brings you some warmth and joy during this unusual time.
Here’s a preview at some of the things we’re working on:
Live Hawaiian Music
The Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort is world-famous for its live Hawaiian music, played nightly at the Kani Ka Pila Grille. Until we’re able to invite you back in-person, we’re thrilled that our musicians - including Sean Na'auao, Weldon Kekauoha, Kawika Kahiapo and Kapena - will be playing live sets for you, from their homes. Make sure to follow us on Facebook for the schedule and to tune in.
Tropical Cocktails
Is there anything more iconic about a beach vacation than drinking tropical cocktails with your toes in the warm sand? We don’t think so. And while we can’t make you an island beverage at this time, we can at least share some recipes with you. Cheers, from our bartenders to your kitchen!

Conference Calls in Paradise
If you missed it, we just announced some free virtual Zoom backgrounds. It might be silly, but it’s just a little (and fun) way for us to bring some sunshine your way. Download your Hawaii backgrounds - or choose from one of our other destinations!
Henry Kapono Foundation
Raise your hand if you’ve been to Duke’s on Sundays! A staple of that experience at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort is musician Henry Kapono. Henry and his team established The Henry Kapono Foundation to help musicians, producers, engineers, dancers and other music professionals who have been affected by this current pandemic. It’s an amazing effort that we wholeheartedly support. Learn more, or view the recent live fundraising concert here.
When the world is ready to travel again, we’ll be here. In the meantime, we’re sending all of our aloha.
