Kona Coffee Tours On the Island of Hawaii

The Kona Coast is the heart of coffee country on the Island of Hawaii. This beautiful, tropical region on the slopes of Hualalai and Mauna Loa is home to 650 coffee farms where the plants are grown and cultivated, and you can sample the bold flavors of Kona coffee.

Tour the coffee farms and plantations along 20 miles of scenic roads along the mountain and volcano slopes of the Kona Coast. Walk through the Kona coffee farms and fields and see the harvesting and processing - from drying to roasting.

    Kona coffee tour

Walking tours last between 30 minutes and two hours and usually end with a free tasting of fresh, organic Kona coffee. Most coffee farms also offer stores where you can buy Kona coffee. Hawaii has a year-round coffee growing cycle and tours are offered year-round.

Enjoy a guided tour of the Kona Coffee Living History Farm and discover a historic 100-year-old farm that tells the story of Kona's coffee pioneers. Walk through the coffee trees and watch the farmers mill and dry their world-famous coffee. The OUTRIGGER Kona Resort sits right on the Kona Coffee belt.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Coffee growing in Hawaii is all year, so any time is good for a Kona coffee tour. The berries start appearing in April and you can see the ripe "cherries" hand harvested between August and January. Coffee trees love sunshine and rain, and you can expect both, so we suggest walking tours in the morning before noon when the Kona coast is sunny.

Most Kona coffee tours last between 30 minutes and two hours. Kona coffee walking tours are both self-guided and guided with narration and a fresh coffee tasting at the end. On most tours you will see the working farm and the processing and roasting, as well as stunning Kona scenery.
